Important New Brunswick Immigration Updates
New Brunswick Experience Pathway — Invitation Restriction
Effective: May 4, 2026
A published notice limits new invitations under the New Brunswick Experience pathway to candidates in the healthcare, education, and construction sectors. Later published invitation-round tables group multiple pathways and list broader sectors. These two sources are not identical. We do not assume the restriction has ended, and we do not assume every listed sector is open under the Experience pathway. Confirm the current selection scope with our team before relying on either source.
Accommodation & Food Services Sector Restriction (Skilled Worker & Express Entry)
Effective: Active restriction — verify current notice
For the Skilled Worker and Express Entry streams, New Brunswick has published a restriction affecting the Accommodation and Food Services sector. Separate occupation restrictions also apply regardless of sector. These restrictions do not automatically apply to the Strategic Initiative stream, the pilot programs, or the Atlantic Immigration Program.
Invitation Rounds — Past Draws Do Not Guarantee Future Selection
Effective: Ongoing
New Brunswick publishes invitation-round tables showing which pathways and occupations were selected in past draws. An occupation appearing in a previous draw does not mean the pathway is open to everyone, or that the same occupation will be selected again. Basic eligibility, current intake restrictions, and invitations issued in past draws are three different things.

Pilot Programs
Critical Worker Pilot
Participation is employer-driven and limited to participating employers. Candidates cannot independently apply without the participating employer's support. Do not assume a participating employer is a Kap Unity Canada partner unless that relationship is confirmed.
Private Career College Graduate Pilot
Restricted to eligible programs, colleges, and graduates, with a qualifying related job offer. The published extension through the end of 2027 is limited and supports certain students already registered — it is not available to all new students. Check the current guide for enrollment conditions and deadlines.
Atlantic Immigration Program (AIP): A separate federal-provincial pathway. New Brunswick also participates in the AIP.

Explore Provincial Nomination Through Express Entry
Candidates must qualify for the federal Express Entry system and meet the relevant New Brunswick requirements. Having an Express Entry profile does not guarantee provincial selection.
Key requirements
- Age 19–55
- Valid federal Express Entry profile
- Canadian high school education or a foreign equivalent (with ECA)
- CLB 7 in all four language abilities
- At least one continuous year of experience within the past 10 years in one NOC at TEER 0, 1, 2, or 3
- At least 67/100 on the provincial selection-factor grid
The 67-point provincial selection-factor grid is different from the federal CRS score used to rank Express Entry profiles in the pool.
Key requirements
- 12 months of authorized full-time work in New Brunswick
- Residence in New Brunswick
- Eligible TEER 0–3 employment
- An eligible New Brunswick employer
French-Speaking? Explore New Brunswick's Francophone Pathways
Speaking French alone does not establish eligibility. This is a provincial nomination stream — it is different from the federal Francophone Mobility work permit. Do not confuse the two.
Key requirements
- French-language testing at the required level (NCLC / TEF / TCF)
- Age within the published range
- Required education
- Employment in New Brunswick or a qualifying provincial connection
- Residence requirements as published
Start or Buy a Business in New Brunswick
This stream is for entrepreneurs who will actively operate and manage a New Brunswick business. Investment alone does not guarantee nomination — this is an active business pathway with business performance conditions.
Key requirements
- Age 19–59
- CLB 4 in all four language abilities
- High school education or equivalent
- Personal net worth of at least CAD $500,000 (or CAD $300,000 for agricultural investment)
- Two years of qualifying business ownership or senior management experience within the past five years
- Qualifying experience includes daily management and supervision of at least two employees; the ownership route requires at least 51% ownership
- Business plan with at least CAD $150,000 in eligible investment
- Creation of at least one full-time job
- At least 65/100 on the selection-factor grid
How the Process Works
- 1Review the relevant stream and current notices.
- 2Submit an Expression of Interest through the official INB system, where applicable.
- 3Wait for selection and an invitation.
- 4Submit the provincial application if invited.
- 5If nominated, apply to IRCC for permanent residence.
- •An EOI is not a complete nomination application.
- •EOIs generally remain valid for 365 days.
- •Selection is not first come, first served.
- •Meeting criteria does not guarantee an invitation or nomination.
- •Business and pilot programs have additional steps.
- •IRCC makes the final permanent residence decision.
- •Our website form is an enquiry to Kap Unity Canada, not a government EOI or application.
